BACK TO OMARURU

Swiss cuisine abroad!

After almost eight weeks, we returned to Omaruru on January 24th, 2021, where we are currently on the campsite of the River Guesthouse. The trip to the Caprivi Strip, the Etosha National Park and the drive along the Kunene, in the far north of the country, will remain unforgettable. Despite the rainy season, we didn’t have to turn back a single time because a road was not passable. On the other hand, we have never experienced Namibia as green as it is now …

On the way back to Omaruru we also passed Outjo. There is The Farmhouse & Beergarden, which is run by Ansta, a Namibian who is married to a Swiss. She lived in Switzerland for several years and got to know Swiss cuisine. No wonder that the menu offers Cordon Bleu, Swiss Goulash with Mashed Potatoes, Sauerkraut with Bratwurst and even Capuns, a specialty from the Graubünden region. Not to be despised was the dessert buffet that I looked at first: Black Forest-, Strawberry-, Merengue-Lime- and other Cakes were on display. Heaven for me!

PS. On the rainy drive from the Hoada Campsite to Outjo, we met springboks, eland antelopes and five giraffes standing along the slope. This is Namibia!
