Located in the south of Argentina, Patagonia is characterized by strong westerly winds and has a very harsh climate. This area is very sparsely populated. The lowest point of the country and the whole of America is the Laguna del Carbon with 105 m below sea level.

The Valdés peninsula covers an area of about 3625 km² and is located on the Atlantic coast. It is a nature reserve and was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999. (Source: Wikipedia)
