Suriname

Suriname is the smallest state in South America. It borders the Atlantic Ocean to the north, French Guiana to the east, Brazil to the south, and Guiana to the west. Behind a maximum of 80 km wide marshy coastal plain, the land ascends step-like and forms the Suriname plateau. The highest elevation is the Julianatop with 1,280 meters.

The climate is tropical. Suriname has a great variety of flora and fauna. Still, about 80% of the base area is rainforest and it is part of the largest tropical rainforest in the world, the Amazon Rainforest. (Source: Wikipedia)
