FINALLY REUNITED!

Welcome in Namibia!

On November 21, 2020 we learned that the MSC Augusta had entered the port of Walvis Bay. However, we did not know whether the container was on board. And also, not whether Mahangu is still in it. We would only find out if the seal is broken and the container is opened …

That happened on November 27th, 2020, in the courtyard of Transworld Cargo, which we had commissioned to import the vehicle. Carmen had called us yesterday and told us that we should be at 11 o’clock at her office in Walvis Bay. The customs officer was advised and everything ready for unloading.  (A compliment: The import of our camper has never been as easy as here in Namibia!)

Were we nervous? Quite a bit, because a lot can happen on such a long transport route (Veracruz – Togo – Antwerp – Togo – Walvis Bay) with two reloading of the container. It would not be the first time a ship sank or a container was washed off board. We breathed a sigh of relief as the seal was broken and the doors opened: Mahangu was standing in it and looked good. What a joy to see it again!

PS. On September 11th, 2020 we drove Mahangu into the container in Veracruz, Mexico. 77 days later we unloaded him today. During this time, Mahangu has covered 25,000 km on a sea voyage …
