RETURNING TO TAHITI

Perfect Birds for Island Hopping!

We get used to flying and the usual Air Tahiti delays. Reason why? Because the schedules for the stopovers are far too short. And usually the plane starts in Tahiti a quarter of an hour late. (I don’t know who writes the flight plans, but whoever does it should maybe take once a flight with the crew!)

On August 18, 2020, our ATR 78 landed on Rurutu three quarters of an hour late. After a stopover on Rimatara, we landed in Tahiti an hour late at 7 p.m. It was already night although the days are getting longer in the southern hemisphere. On Tikehau, our next destination, there isn’t much besides coconut palms. And what is there is disproportionately expensive; no matter if it’s beer, water, fruits or milk…

PS. In the evening we watched the film «Mutiny on the Bounty» from 1972. The film suited the location; just like back in 2007 when we were watching the film »Fitzcarraldo» with Klaus Kinski and Claudia Cardinale in Manaus …
