Thank you, Ernest, for this title! I read this novel more than once in my youth. Now, at 75, I remember when I see the fishermen returning on their boats on Rangiroa. (I imagine what it is like if, instead of the fish, only the fish skeleton is brought back to the shore …)

The quiet days on this island also bring back other memories of this journey! Most of the time they are good – apart from the one on the Carretera Austral in the south of Chile! The four weeks in the South Seas and on five different islands will remain unforgettable. And the flights there too!

On September 1st, 2020 we will fly back to Tahiti from Rangiroa. A few hours later we board the Air Tahiti Nui and fly back via LA to Guadalajara, Mexico. With lots of good memories in our luggage …

PS. Our trip to Switzerland from mid-September will begin with ten days of quarantine. (Who would have thought that it would come to this?) Fortunately, we can spend those in the house of friends who are on vacation on Elba for two weeks …
