ABOUT APPLES AND APPLE

Sculptured by Nature!

If I remember correctly, an apple is mentioned for the first time in the Bible. I’m not too sure about that though, as I prefer not reading books and stories about murder and manslaughter…

The most famous apple is probably the one that adorns iPhones, iPods and also the MacBook Pro. Incidentally, I write these articles on one of these. I will never forget our visit to the «Apple Mothership» in Cupertino, California. Back then, in October 2008, we wanted to pay a visit to Steve Jobs – but that didn’t happen. We didn’t get any further than to an Indian IT engineer! However, the visit was still an experience.

Another exceptional apple is found in the Erongo Mountains at the Omandumba Farm. It’s called Split Apple and that’s what it looks like. They are two huge stone spheres the size of a detached house that Mother Nature has cut in two down the middle over the course of decades. They look so perfect, as if a sculptor had been commissioned to commemorate the world-famous Apple logo here…

PS. We recently went to the «Split Apple» for the third time; this time with friends from Zurich. And they were just as enthusiastic about this area as we are!
