The Emmental has grown dear to me since my youth. My grandparents’ farm is in Biglen. And that’s where my brother and I also spent our holidays. We learned how to hay and graze, and in the evenings, we brought the milk to the dairy. In the evening we played games with grandfather, who was not only a farmer but also the president of the parish. And he was as skilled with his hands as I am clumsy…

My joy was therefore great when, during our stay in Mexico, which lasted several months due to Covid, we met a couple who came from Walkringen in the Emmental. Ursula and Markus have been touring North America with their Iveco for over five years now. However, they are currently at home for three months in Walkringen, which is only an hour from Kandersteg.

So, it was only natural that we would meet for lunch. We knew from experience that Ursula is good at cooking and baking. But what she and her daughter Tanja conjured up on the table that day was simply wonderful! Thank you very much, dear friends!
