There are many delicious things to buy in Kandersteg and the surrounding area: good cheese, yoghurt and butter in the dairy. The bakery offers freshly baked bread as well as delicious desserts. You can buy cider or fresh eggs from the farmers in the area – we see the chickens roaming the meadows every day!

A few kilometers from Kandersteg, in the direction of Thun, there are large strawberry fields where you can pick the sweet berries yourself. Not far from there is a distillery, in front of which are the famous blue plastic barrels in which the fruits are delivered, which are distilled here into fine distillates.

A few days ago, we stopped at the distillery. The shop was open and André Bruni, who took over the distillery from his parents in 2002, greeted us standing in front of a large wall full of schnapps bottles. We tasted and decided on a quince schnapps, a Williams and a bottle of Kirsch. A good choice, as we found out at the next suitable opportunity…
