Lieseli: A very happy cat!
Somehow, we have it easy with cats. Wherever we are, sooner or later we’ll run into one. In Swakopmund it was Glöggli, a sweet, black cat who moved from a lodge into our house. In Atotonilco, in Mexico, it was Divertido who shared our life in our campervan. In Orapa, Botswana, last year we found an abandoned young cat – we named her after the place where she came from – and saved her from starvation.
And in 2021, when we moved into our apartment in Kandersteg, a cat soon moved in with us. She actually belongs to the resident of the chalet next door, but since Reto isn’t a meat eater, she quickly felt more comfortable with us. Where do you get a chicken leg or wing every other day? And where so many cuddles?
Lieseli, a funny name for a cat, is over twenty years old. She can’t hear anything anymore, no longer so confident on foot and we don’t know how well she can see. But she enjoys the days with us, thanks us with loud purr concerts and rubs our feet as soon as we move towards the fridge. Because she knows that’s where the meat is she loves so much.
Soon it will be time to say goodbye to Lieseli for six months. We hope to see her again when we return in spring 2025. Then she will soon celebrate her 25th birthday…
