Always something happening in Swakopmund!
You might think that Swakopmund, located on the Benguela River, is all about fish, harbors, and offshore drilling rigs. Far from it!
We’re always amazed what this small town offers its residents and tourists alike. There’s a lot going on here, especially during the holidays. And the Easter holidays also fall during the holiday season. Even though the tradition of Easter baskets and colored Easter eggs isn’t as obvious here as in Switzerland, Lindt chocolate Easter bunnies are also available for purchase. (I only refrained from buying one because I ordered an Easter basket in Kandersteg, which will be waiting for me in our apartment when we return there on May 2, 2025!)
On Easter Saturday, the Night of the Galleries took place in Swakopmund, organized by the art association. Of course, we visited and were pleasantly surprised by what was on offer. Art was on display not only in the fine art gallery but also in the bookstore and other shops. Visitors were offered a glass of wine or sparkling wine everywhere. So, we didn’t need an aperitif before dinner…
