I’m not that into horseback riding, even though I’ve seen almost all the films with John Wayne. But that has nothing to do with the Concours Hippique, which takes place from the 7th to the 9th. July 2023 in Kandersteg. «Show jumping is a discipline of equestrian sport in which horse and rider overcome a course consisting of several obstacles in a fixed order. The obstacles can be steep jumps, high jumps or terrain obstacles» – this is what Wikipedia says.

After the morning walk along the river Kander and the breakfast, I made my way to the riding arena, which was set up at the Kandersteg train station. (Brigitta was in Zurich at a meeting with her former KPMG colleagues, so I was a straw widower for two days.) There, male and female riders on beautiful horses, in neat riding clothes and shiny boots, tried to get their horses to jump over an obstacle, which not everyone succeeded.
