
An Oasis in Lions Den
Anyone who knows us knows that we are not fans of hamburgers. It takes a lot for us to go to a Burger King or McDonalds restaurant. If a Coca Cola is put on the table, we would rather run away.
However, when we read in iOverlander that there was a place called Butchery & Saucey Sue’s in Lions Den, a small town on our way to Nyanga Mountain and Chimanimani, that also sold biltong, we decided to go there and have a break. We also wanted to see for ourselves whether the many positive entries about the hamburger served there were deserved.
So, we turned off the busy main road and parked in front of Sue’s Saucey in the shade of a tree. When we entered the restaurant and saw biltong and cabanossi sausages hanging on a wooden rack, we knew that our decision was a good one – our mouths were already watering!
But first we wanted to try the hamburgers. What we were served in the beautiful garden was the best hamburger we have ever eaten. We would have loved to eat a second one; but we also wanted to buy biltong and cabanossi…
