
Sushi-Platter for two!
The Benguela, a particularly cold and fish-rich sea-current, passes by the coast of Namibia. The two remaining fish factories in Lüderitz are a sign that there are still enough fish that are caught, packaged and exported to Europe. During our stay in Lüderitz, we met Mario, a Portuguese fisherman and his friend, a Spaniard from Galicia. Both have worked on fishing boats for years and know the fishing grounds around Lüderitz. And of course, they also know where to eat the best fish and the freshest seafood: At the Portuguese Fisherman.
In his earlier life, Joel was an engineer, not a fisherman. But even then, he liked to cook. Once upon a time, his dream was to have his own fish restaurant. He made this dream come true. Two years ago, he opened his restaurant here and during this time made it one of the top addresses in Lüderitz when it comes to Tuna Teriyaki, Sushi or Sashimi ….
PS. It was only logical that we ate the next two evenings at the Portuguese and also enjoyed Portuguese wine! Tudo bem!
