You better watch out!
We knew this camp on the Chobe River from previous trips and wanted to spend a night there on our way to Zimbabwe. However, we wanted to do this without a reservation because that has the advantage that you don’t have to plan the trip in advance down to the last detail. Additionally, a reservation forces you to be at that location on the designated day; even if you would rather stay another day where you are.
When we arrived at Ihaha in the early afternoon we were told that we would find a place in the evening. With this information we set off to explore Chobe National Park for a few more hours. On this game drive we not only saw many impalas, hundreds of buffalo, six lions and a dead elephant but also a dead buffalo with a crocodile nibbling on it – not a pretty sight. We turned around and made our way to the camp in the late afternoon. There was no ranger at the gate, so I honked the horn. A ranger didn’t show up; But there was a family of elephants on their way to the river to quench their thirst…
PS: If you want to know more about the Chobe, you can find it here.
