There is still a lot to do!
The previous owners of our holiday home, an elderly German couple, are immigrants. (Or what the locals call «snow bantus»!) After working in the inland as farmers, they moved for their retirement into the house in Rössing Village that we have now bought from them.
During our first visit, we had to hang in there! We liked the house straight away and it fits perfectly for our purposes. But the furnishing! Massive, dark leather furniture, dark brown tiles in the bathroom, brown blinds and fitted carpets in a dark beige. Yuck, yuck! But we know about the taste of German immigrants. We do not share it!
Now we are subjecting the house to a gentle renovation. Brigitta supervises the craftsmen, who are happy to have an expert contact person. I stay out of it all and limit myself to occasional visits. My two (left) hands are not very suitable for handiwork…
PS First of all, we let remove the garden gnomes and stone mushrooms in front of the house. (My father was a trained horticulturalist – he had the same horror of garden gnomes as we do!)
