Golf like in England
Regular readers of our travel reports knows that we learned to play golf in Swakopmund, where we live on a golf course; or are still learning it. So, what could be more obvious than to find out where you can play golf in Zimbabwe before you start your trip? We quickly discovered that there are beautiful golf courses in this country. One of these is part of the Troutbeck Resort.
During one of our visits, when we were having English tea here, we asked if we could play a round of golf. «No problem, you are welcome!» was the answer. We didn’t have to think twice when we heard the prices: US$ 15. — per person for 9 holes, plus US$ 10. — for the caddy and then another US$10. — for ten golf balls.
After a wonderful night’s sleep in Debby’s garden, we drove up to the Troutbeck Resort on October 25th, 2023, where we are already well known. We filled out the forms, paid and shortly afterwards stood at the first tee with our caddy. We spent the next three hours on the beautifully landscaped golf course. We were told that there are similar ones in Scotland – that would be a reason to visit Scotland. (The other would be the delicious whiskey that is distilled there!)
