In the last few days, we have noticed small advertisements in the local newspaper, which invite you to pick strawberries yourself in a strawberry field in the area. When we read that, our mouths watered.

So, on our next visit to Thun, which can be reached by car in half an hour, we killed two birds with one stone: First we practiced teeing off and putting on the 9-hole golf course for two hours. Then we put the golf clubs in the car and drove to Amsoldingen, where a large strawberry field was waiting for us. The owners have christened this eldorado for strawberry lovers «Erdbeerland» (Land of Strawberries).

With an empty container we went to work. No! It wasn’t work – it was a pleasure to fill the container with 4.5 kilograms of fresh strawberries within half an hour. It is logical that every now and then a sweet fruit found its way into our mouths. What a difference if you bite into an unripe strawberry from Spain; or into one that’s sun-ripened and freshly picked. And nice that tasting is allowed on the field – otherwise we would have had a bad conscience!
