Nature at it's best!
We have been exploring the area around Kandersteg for a few weeks and this included a trip to the Sunnbüel some days ago. The cable car at the end of the village of Kandersteg took us from 1,200 to almost 2,000 meters above sea level in just a few minutes. The ascent was already an experience, as we had a fantastic panoramic view. On the right side we looked into the Gastern Valley, Kandersteg lay at the bottom of the valley and on the left side the Allmenalp presented itself from its most beautiful side.
At the top we shouldered our backpacks. From here you could also hike to Leukerbad in Valais via the Gemmi Pass. But that would take over four hours; and that was a bit too long for us. Our goal for the day was closer. It was the stone pine forest and the little lake embedded in it. We’ve been told by locals that now is the best time to visit. When the snow melts, the small lake fills with water and dries up again over the course of the summer.
We were blown away by what we got to see. And all those who visit this place will feel the same way! What a sight! What a piece of paradise on earth! What a scent in the pine forest!
