Yesterday, at 8:15 p.m., we pushed our baggage cart to the check-in counter. We were surprised that there weren’t any more passengers waiting. Brigitta was even more surprised when she saw an Air Tahiti Nui flight to San Francisco but not one to LA on the indicator board…

Our tickets were issued for September 1st and confirmed that way. Nobody could tell us why this flight did not take place as scheduled. Back at the airport restaurant, Brigitta sat down behind her computer and contacted the travel agency. It took three (!) hours until we had the confirmation for the flight the next day. (We don’t yet know why the flight was canceled on September 1st, 2020!)

We phoned Heiura and asked if we could stay overnight with her. «Oui, pas de problème» she said. We tried to get a rental car from Avis, but they had already closed. So, we tried a taxi! But there was none to be seen far and wide; and it took a quarter of an hour to find one. Heiura received us with a glass of rum! We needed that! At midnight we sank into bed dead tired …

PS. This morning we didn’t wake up in LA but in Tahiti! We went on a trip across the island with Heiura and ate in Gauguin’s restaurant «poisson cru» with a beautiful view of the South Seas! So, the postponement of the flight also had its good …
