ABOUT BRA’S AND BALLS

WM-Public Viewing in Namibia

We have never missed television during our travels. And we don’t miss it in Swakopmund either. So, we didn’t buy a TV. I can live with that – but not when it’s time for the World Cup, like it is now. (However, I could have done without the Swiss game against Serbia – and the gesture by Xhaka anyway!)

I researched where to watch the World Cup games in Swakopmund and quickly found what I was looking for. Although not as part of a big screen public viewing, the games will be broadcast in some restaurants; e.g. in the Desert Tavern. The restaurant is quite ok and the beer is tapped fresh from the barrel. What I didn’t like was that there were dozens of brassieres hanging from the crossbar in front of the TV. (I don’t know why!) I have nothing against lingerie but when a bra gets in the left field of view of the TV, it’s very irritating. In addition, the sound for the game was switched off and very loud rap music was switched on. So, I changed the location…

For the remaining games, I went to the Old Sailor, a sports bar that has almost as many TVs as it has liquor bottles. But the beer and vibe there are excellent…

PS. The cod sticks in the bar are also excellent! They cost a third of what the ones at Lake Zurich and are three times as fresh! And they go perfectly with a Windhoek beer.
