STOP OVER IN TSUMEB

Is he not cute?

Yesterday, on the hike through the vineyard and to the Tonningii Winery, we discovered a young turtle that crossed our path. Half an hour later we met Pegasus, the oryx, which is tame and bottle-raised by the Boshoffs. Its pointed horns were cut off because the antelope loved to play with people and was unaware of how dangerous his horns were. (Which animal do you think we will meet today?)

After more than two weeks in the Caprivi Strip and yesterday’s tasting, we returned to Tsumeb on January 6th, 2021. We almost feel at home on the camping site of the Kupferquelle Lodge, as we have already spent a few nights here before. The good kitchen and the large pool are further attractions before we drive through the Etosha National Park for a week starting from tomorrow. It rained there last week and there is water in the pan, which has attracted many birds. The flamingos should already have landed and are breeding …

PS. Speaking of animal encounters: to Birgitta’s great delight, we were greeted by a chameleon at the campsite today.
