Baked with love!
A Sunday without a bread in form of a braid is not a Sunday! At least not in Switzerland. That’s what Markus, from Konolfingen, who we met in Mexico in 2020, also thinks. He was traveling with his wife Ursula and a well-equipped Iveco (with oven and washing machine!). The two had to interrupt their trip – like us – for several months during 2020 in Mexico because of Covid.
During this time at a campsite, we became closer and enjoyed the delicious cakes that Ursula baked almost every day. On Saturday night she gave us a bread for breakfast on Sunday morning! But now it is up to us to bake a braid. We did that on Easter Saturday afternoon. I got all the ingredients ready and crumbled the yeast. Then Brigitta went into action and I watched with interest and was once again amazed at what she can do!
Then the dough rested for 1 ½ hours. Afterwards it was plaited (by Brigitta) and, after another 30 minutes of rest, put into the oven. My mouth is already watering…
PS. A good braid needs the best butter. Just like the one from the dairy in Kandersteg!
