
Reutlingen: A charming town!
Those who travel want to see something of the world: landscapes, people or animals. This requires good eyes. Mine are now seventy-five years old and no longer as sharp as they used to be. So far, I have been able to compensate this with glasses, but the lenses have got stronger and stronger and the eye-sight weaker and weaker.
A few years ago, the onset of cataract was diagnosed. It made sense to operate it now as we are spending several weeks in Switzerland because of Covid-19. At the same time, I could have lenses inserted that would make wearing glasses superfluous in the future. Now it was just a matter of finding a suitable date at an eye clinic. I didn’t find it in Switzerland; but in Reutlingen, in Germany, in the same clinic where Brigitta corrected her eyes by laser a few years ago: Practice group ophthalmologists Reinhards. After a preliminary examination, I was operated first on my right and a day later on my left eye. Was I nervous? Of course!
PS. I would have loved to have Brigitta held my hand during the operation to calm me down. Unfortunately, that was not possible; but there are anesthesiologists …
