Social gathering!
It has been almost two months since the last time we were in the Etosha National Park. So not only we, but also Gabi, our friend from Swakopmund, wanted an extended game drive. We agreed to meet Gabi in Tsumeb and from there to drive together through the Etosha and then to Ruacana, on the Kunene, which forms the border with Angola.
We met Gabi on 28th April after we had said goodbye to our visitors from Switzerland at the Spitzkoppe and drove about five hundred kilometers north, to Tsumeb. From there we drove two days later to the Etosha National Park. A short stop at Fort Namutoni, then we drove around the Fisherpan, where we encountered pelicans and flamingos looking for food in the shallow water.
One day later, on the way to Okaukuejo, we came across the Gemsbokvlakte waterhole. From a distance we saw that a huge herd of zebras had gathered there. And the closer we got, the more there were. The good rain in Etosha has allowed the grass to grow, which not only pleases the zebras …
PS. The many springboks, who also quenched their thirst at the waterhole, were hardly to be seen because of the zebra crossings.
