KING OF THE ANIMALS

The Lion King!

The good rain in Etosha National Park made the grass grow. And where the grass grows, the herds of animals grow too. Zebras, wildebeests, springboks, impalas and giraffes give birth to many more young animals than in dry years. At all water points we come across we met large herds of animals with their young. It is a unique spectacle to see how carefully the animals approach the waterhole. Sometimes it takes a quarter of an hour for a giraffe to bend its knees so that it can drink water. (The long neck is not an advantage in this case!)

However, as the herds of animals grow, so does the number of their persecutor. In this case, that of the lions. They also have offspring! And they want to be fed as well. We already drove through the Etosha without meeting a single lion. But this time we met two magnificent kings of the beasts on the same day …

PS. Gabi met eight lions on the same day and Sonja and her family even met twelve! They are sure to be happy about the wide range of food in form of the antelopes …
