Sucessful Teamwork!
I still remember my grandmother standing in the farm kitchen behind the big black stove that was fired with wood. It smelled delicious when she was about to bake «Schlüfchüechli» in coconut oil. Grandmother put the dough in the oil bath, then they went into hiding first, then reappeared golden brown a few minutes later.
A few days ago, this scent came back into my nose. And once again memories of the Emmental and my youth came up. Ursula, a crafty cook who also loves baking above all, was with her husband about to bake «Schlüfchüechli» in front of her recreational vehicle. When I realized that, I was drawn to the two irresistibly – not entirely unselfishly! What a view when I saw the dough sink in the coconut oil and a few minutes later the brown delicacies reappeared on the surface. The fact that I could try two of them, freshly baked and still warm, put the crown on this morning!
PS. Before readers who are unfamiliar with Swiss German read the title, it is best to try the word «Chuchichäschtli». That means nothing other than a kitchen cabinet!
